Hi There

I’m Elayn Martin-Gay

I’ve been teaching for a long time, and every year my passion for helping students succeed in math grows stronger. Whether it’s watching them gain the confidence to try a new problem or finding those “teachable moments” that change everything, I’ve always felt that I could help make a difference.

Education is one of the great equalizers, and I’ve been proud to have taught mathematics at the University of New Orleans for over 25 years, earning many awards and honors along the way. My textbooks and videos have helped countless students believe in their abilities, and I’m so happy that you’re here today to prove that you can do it.

I am currently attending The Ohio State University… I had been out of school for nine years and did poorly in math. I am now applying myself and understanding that math is really awesome when you think about it.

I am 45 years old and I finally understand Algebra, thanks to Elayn. I am so overcome with joy that I just passed college algebra, and I wish I could thank her personally!

I would not trade you for another professor in the world. I can’t believe I actually understand this stuff… Now I’m not scared of MATH anymore. Wait until I tell my mother about this!

When You’re Feeling Low on Fuel

It’s worth remembering that you have the power to define what it means to succeed. Sometimes all it takes is to remind yourself of that fact so you can get yourself back on track. Take a breath and remember to appreciate your math journey. There’s plenty of scenery that can help you fill up your tank.
